Everybody's mood and behavior was like that of one big family reunion on New Years Day. Great, great fun was had by all, especially me. It was one of those events where photographing the revelers really added to the merriment, not just for me, but for all of my subjects as well.

MEXICAN DAY OF THE DEAD at Kimball Office Furniture
reporter/photographer: Miguel Dominguez
It happened on November 30th, the night before Halloween. Sort of a warm up before the big event of the Halloween Parade, when for one night, New York shows New Orleans how much they need to improve their Mardi Gras. For all intents and purposes, the Kimball Office space became a Mexican enclave complete with non-stop Mexican cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and even a Mariachi band.

DOUBLE TREAT: A Tour of 1stdibs, and a Paris Flea Market Lecture by The Antiques Diva
reporter: Miguel Dominguez
On March 25th at the New York Design Center, Toma Clark Haines, The Antiques Diva, had an exhaustive and eye opening lecture on the ins and outs of the Paris Flea Market and the mistakes neophytes make when exploring it without an expert guide to help them out. It was an invaluable opportunity for interior designers who enjoy treasure hunting to learn how to make the most out of their foraging adventures abroad.
Before the lecture started, we were invited by 1stdibs to take a guided tour through what some of us jokingly, but very seriously, referred to as "The Candy Store," as the photos I took of their showroom can attest.

HOLIDAY HOUSE Kick Off Party
reporter: Miguel Dominguez
On October 22nd, the Holiday House NYC benefit for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation had its kick off party at the Academy Mansion, where the show house takes place every year. It's a nice gathering for the people and companies from all the architecture and interior decor related industries involved, before they start the hard, exhausting work of putting each of the rooms together.
Holiday House will run from November 21st to December 18th, with their Gala Opening on November 20th, which I already covered and will be posting in the near future with a link to this article as well.
