2011 VINTAGE PORT DECLARATION

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

Croft (founded in 1588), Taylor Fladgate (1692), and Fonseca (1815), three family owned and managed Port houses that grouped themselves as The Fladgate Partnership, have declared 2011 a Vintage Port year for all three houses.

The Fladgate Partnership's CEO Adrian Bridge, says "2011 produced textbook Vintage Ports, classics in every sense." This was due to the fact that the winter preceding 2011 was wetter and colder than the 30 year average.

So, on June 6, The Fladgate Partnership celebrated such a fortunate occasion with a Port wine tasting, to the great delight of wine lovers in New York.

Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014: KATYA ZOL

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

Mongol designer Katya Zol chose to go with cashmere for her spring collection. It was a touch of luxury not necessarily needed, but very much appreciated, for her far too few, already simple and elegant designs. Quality always shows.

Her show was arranged by Couture Fashion Week, taking place at the New Yorker Hotel on September 8th.

JOHN LYLE New Designs in Luxury Furniture

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

John Lyle shows off his wall sculptures and a
treasure of a side table with a quartz top

John Lyle is a sculptor/designer who specializes in luxurious appointments for the home. Most of his pieces, including furniture, are hand made of metal (he's very partial to bronze), but he also likes to play with more organic materials such as shagreen and linen on some of his pieces.

So, on July 24, Holly Hunt, the showroom where some of his work is on display, had a rather intimate (read exclusive) presentation, unveiling his newest designs for his friends on the trade.
