ROLL & HILL LIGHTING Celebration

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

On the same May 19th, after covering the Environment Furniture promo party (see previous article below) I was walking north on Bowery, when two blocks away there was another Interior Design happening I decided to crash, the going-ons inside were so interesting. This particular event was being done by Roll & Hill lighting, in what seemed to be a store front space the size of a football field, big enough to accommodate the dramatic oversize lighting installations being displayed.

ENVIRONMENT FURNITURE promotes "GREEN"

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

Environment is more than just a furniture company. With innovation at its core, Environment applies a clever sense of aesthetic to a diverse mix of sustainable materials and textures to excite the furniture consumer. It is with this in mind that Environment had a promo event on May 19th, at their NoHo Design District showroom.

HEART LIGHT SHADOW: Ingrid Michaelson Performance

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

On May 20th, inspired by Ingrid Michaelson’s song ‘Ghost,’ ABC Carpet & Home chose to realize that inspiration visually with the Heart, Light & Shadow installation and the ‘Ghost’ collection within it at their multi storied showroom, which is the sort of place that makes Ali Baba’s 40 thieves’ treasure cave seem like a dumpster. Ingrid was invited to perform in connection to her video for ‘Ghost,’ where she uses her body to translate her message and communicate the lyrics of her work. ABC Carpet & Home found true resonance in this creative revelation, as they believe that being at home in your own body is where home begins. Ingrid had been invited previously at ABC Carpet & Home when it hosted a Democratic Party fundraiser for President Obama back in March.

11th Annual Women Who Care Luncheon Benefit for United Cerebral Palsy of New York City

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

"Ladies Who Lunch" for a worthy cause
Disregard the misleading caption in the photo above. This was not a "Ladies Who Lunch" get together. It was the 11th annual Women Who Care luncheon benefit for United Cerebral Palsy of New York City. It took place on May 3rd, at Cipriani 42nd Street.

BEFORE THEY WERE FAMOUS: Behind the Lens of William John Kennedy

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

Officially, what took place on May 1, at 109 Norfolk street in the Lower East Side, one of the two trendiest art neighborhoods in the city, was a gallery opening, but the restricted guest list at the door, which made for a small and intimate crowd inside, composed of truly interesting, cultured people, made the exhibit of Before They Were Famous: Behind the Lens of William John Kennedy seem like a get together of old friends.

Excellent French Brasserie Cuisine at Café Un Deux Trois

review & photos: Miguel Dominguez

Owned by restaurant team George Guenancia and Gerard Blanes, who have had over 35 years of experience in the business from Paris to New York, Café Un Deux Trois is located half a block away from the constantly bustling Times Square, but one wouldn’t know it from the quiet, intimate and relaxed atmosphere one immediately experiences upon crossing the threshold from a very inconspicuous entrance.
