KHADIA debuts at the WOMEN & FASHION FILMFEST

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

On June 7th at the Yotel Hotel, in anticipation of the August release of her singles “If” and “Too Perfect” and her September album debut, rocking singer Khadia made her solo musical debut at the Women & Fashion FilmFest (WFF)/Girls Empowerment Fashion Runway (GEFR) sponsored by TRUE Model Management.

Khadia performed three numbers during the Yotel Hotel weekly, ongoing fashion show platform entitled Runway the Real Way. On this occasion, designs by students of Pratt InstituteFashion Institute of Technology, and United Colors of Fashion Academy were featured.

Khadia together with GEFR strive to motivate, fortify, educate, inspire and empower young women to live their dreams and enjoy all aspects of their lives. GEFR will feature both aspiring models and non-models, and give young female fashion designers a fun and supportive platform to showcase their work.

Throughout her three performances, Khadia wore designs by Nina Verklas, who took part in the GEFR show, and who is also another of Debbie's clients.

While this is Khadia’s solo debut, she has stood 20 feet from stardom for a while, performing around the world singing background vocals for Grammy Award winning recording artist, Mya, but now she is ready for her moment in the spotlight. She has performed at venues such as the historic Bellagio Hotel and Casino, the beautiful Luxor resort, and the magnificent O2 Arena in London. She has shared the stage with the legendary Run DMC and sang back-up for pop icon Prince at the legendary Indigo nightclub in London. Khadia draws influences from artists like Paramore, Pink, Tina Turner, and Janet Jackson.

Khadia will make her New York City club debut at the renowned showcase for new talent, The Bitter End, on July 1st.
