Couture Fashion Week "Jewel of India": MADHU MUNYAL

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

New York-based fashion designer Madhu Munyal  presented her latest collection at the Couture Fashion Week in New York, as part of the “Jewel of India” collective. The fashion show was held on September 16, 2012 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria.

A native of Agra, India, Madhu Munyal attended LSR Delhi University, where she majored in Psychology and went on to become an elementary school teacher. She continued to pursue her passion for fashion, studying fashion designers and working with tailors. A few years later Ms. Munyal moved to New York and began styling her closest friends, creating her label Charms Couture.

Now one of New York's most sought after South Asian fashion designers, she has gained a large following by styling her clients in one-of-a-kind pieces tailored to their unique, individual, and idiosyncratic tastes. Her client list has grown rapidly through enthusiastic word-of-mouth promotion. The collection has expanded also to include bridal couture, the designer's favorite part of the business.

Madhu Munyal's creations have a special appeal to all women looking for a modern and chic look that is also glamorous with a South Asian flair.
