While covering the Angel Sanchez event at the Lincoln Center tents, I came across Tuan Tran and his lovely models who were wearing three samples of his custom hand woven (no cutting or sawing involved) wearable Art.
Needless to say, they were the sight to see and photograph all over the Lincoln Center grounds.
Creating beauty from source materials which are up-cycled and re-purposed is Tuan Tran's obsession. Recycled Materials are the Ethos of his Fashion Design & Art. The colors and textures of material, thread and wire, appear in much of his work. The elements or materials used in composing garments are as varied as the resulting end design.
Tuan's art is an embodiment of the idea of recycling, re-purposing and reusing, extending and enhancing the revolutionary idea of “ready mades” or “found art” concepts. The idea of viewing and appreciating that which our society has produced, but no longer values.
