I was just about the first to arrive at
Clic Book Store & Gallery on June 14th for the opening of
City Light Signs, the art exhibit of oil paintings by
Peter Dugovic, and therefore had plenty of time and space to really peruse the wonderful visuals on the walls, not to mention the impressive selection of art books that could equal anything by Rizzoli or Taschen.
Born in Honeoye Falls, NY, Peter Dugovic spent his formative years in New York City both as a bike messenger and sign painter. There he gained an appreciation for gritty urban scenes, wooded areas and hard work. Peter is primarily self-taught in art though he studied Printmaking and Sculpture at both SUNY Genesco and SUNY Purchase. After that, Peter moved with his family to Kennebunk, ME, where he worked as a carpenter and proprietor of his own store. During this time he gravitated back to his artwork and in 2009 he began his career as professional artist.
Peter paints from childhood memories as well as from present experiences. His techniques result in scenes that are powerful and unique. The artist has had over ten solo and group exhibitions and has shown in New York City, Long Island, Kennebunk, as well as in Amesbury, MA.

A very active crafter, Peter came up with the inspired idea of making his promo cards out of wooden chips and also paper flags using nails as poles. Definitely collector's memorabilia
