Grammy Nominee SETH GLIER Performs

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

Seth Glier, Musician Extraordinaire!

Grammy® nominee, singer/songwriter Seth Glier returned to his favorite NYC stage, Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 2) on August 16th, his first time back in the hall since last February, to preview music from his upcoming 3rd release, due out in early 2013.

Master Guitarist Ryan Hommel accompanied Seth

The 22 year old, Massachusetts native singer, pianist and guitarist has established himself on the music scene performing over 250 shows a year. In 2010, Glier shared stages with James Taylor, Mark Knopfler, The Verve Pipe, and Edwin McCain. He has appeared as a mainstage artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY) and the Kerrville Folk Festival (TX). USA Today recently compared Seth to Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel, and in February 2011 recommended his track “Lauralee” on their “Listen Up Playlist.”

Seth and Ryan worked together amazingly as one single musical entity. Hearing their performance was like
listening to a perfectly polished studio recording, but with the added excitement of being there live

Since being nominated for a Grammy earlier this year, momentum has continued to build. News of this major placement came along with a 100% spike in sales of the track that propelled the song to #54 on theiTunes Top 100 Singer-songwriter music chart over the weekend. Thanks to music discovery apps like Shazaam, thousands of fans were able to indentify "Beauty In the Breakdown", from his Grammy nominated record, The Next Right Thing, as Seth Glier's, and download it.

The song's placement on Bravo TV reality series Don't Be Tardy To The Wedding, played in the season finale episode during the reality couple's first dance at their wedding reception. According to Bravo's rating, this season finale episode drew 2.4 million viewers.

Seth abandoned studies at The Berklee College of Music after one year because he felt he should be playing for people and not for grades. He doesn’t just concern himself with connecting with paying audiences, either. Along the massive tour behind his MPress debut, “The Trouble With People”, Glier, an environmentalist and altruist used his music to make a difference wherever he could. His “green” CD release tour involved organizing tree planting parties in cities along the tour route (which he reached in his hybrid car); promoting carpools for fans to attend his shows; selling t-shirts made out of organic materials, and more. He also makes frequent visits to elementary schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. In the same vein, Glier continued his partnership with the organization Musicians On Call to visit hospitals and perform at charity benefits, and he plans to continue incorporating such appearances into his ongoing tour. The inspiration he derived from these appearances directly influenced the songs on “The Next Right Thing.”

MPress recording artist Seth Glier with his powerful falsetto, melodic skill, and with what Performer Magazine calls his “intoxicating groove,” will definitely catch your attention.
