On September 19 at Rizzoli Books, David Lesniak and David Muñiz, co authors of Piece of Cake: Home Baking Made Simple and owners of Outsider Tart, the first American bakery in London, had their book signing event, just in time to give holiday inspiration by presenting over 100 home-baked American classics in this compendium of dessert recipes.
Hailing from New Jersey and Mississippi respectively, David Muñiz and David Lesniak’s mission is to introduce a new generation of bakers to the genuine taste and authentic quality of these classic American treats—simple yet very satisfying brownies, muffins, cookies, and cakes that are the essence of home baking—when made from scratch and baked at home. They share their favorites, such as blueberry muffins, chocolate walnut brownies, and peanut butter cookies. They also include new takes on some old standbys, like white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes and red velvet cheesecake. The book also features variations on the signature item at their acclaimed bakery: the whoopie pie, for which they have created a craze in Britain.
