HEART LIGHT SHADOW: Ingrid Michaelson Performance

reporter: Miguel Dominguez

On May 20th, inspired by Ingrid Michaelson’s song ‘Ghost,’ ABC Carpet & Home chose to realize that inspiration visually with the Heart, Light & Shadow installation and the ‘Ghost’ collection within it at their multi storied showroom, which is the sort of place that makes Ali Baba’s 40 thieves’ treasure cave seem like a dumpster. Ingrid was invited to perform in connection to her video for ‘Ghost,’ where she uses her body to translate her message and communicate the lyrics of her work. ABC Carpet & Home found true resonance in this creative revelation, as they believe that being at home in your own body is where home begins. Ingrid had been invited previously at ABC Carpet & Home when it hosted a Democratic Party fundraiser for President Obama back in March.

The evening was a way for ABC Carpet & Home to honor a community that has been so supportive to them, and create an all encompassing sensory experience of self expression. ABC Carpet & Home and their foundation ABC Home & Planet, quite often holds events to celebrate their space Deepak Home Base, in order to bring awareness to their mission, and to give back to the community. As design enthusiasts, it’s always important to ABC Carpet & Home to celebrate ICFF and NY Design week, being celebrated throughout the city at the time.

The latest trend in Vodka consumption are the ubiquitous "Lemonades."
Matchbox Catering's version added a sprig of fresh thyme, which made it so
delicious, they ran out of the mix before the event was over, and desolate
souls like me had to be content with the wonderful white wine instead
